Wendy and Lucy -Movie Review

Michelle Williams gives a terrific performance as a tragic wanderer in a post -industrial America in the excellent film "Wendy and Lucy". Wendy (Michelle Williams) plays a young woman traveling from economically devastated Indiana to Alaska with her dog Lucy. Somewhere in Oregon, Wendy's car breaks down, and she is caught stealing dog food. While Wendy is in police custody, her dog disappears. With few resources,  Wendy desperately searches for her dog. There is one several minute long scene in the film that is nearly dark. The audience hears an unseen man rambling nonsense and a there is a small whimper from Wendy.One can only imagine the terror of what she is going through. I would compare Wendy and Lucy to a modern-day Grapes of Wrath.
