Movie Review- "In God's Country"

Search Amazon.com for In God's Country"In God's Country" is a fictional look at a Mormon polygamist sect similar to The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS). The FLDS became a focus of news coverage after one of  its leaders, Warren Jeffs, was arrested. Kelly Rowan (The OC) portrays Judith Leavitt, one of several wives of the sect leader Josiah Leavitt (Richard Burgi).

After one of Judith's daughters is molested by a sect member, she rebels and eventually leaves the church compound with her children. "In God's Country" is a frightening look at a cult in which older male members basically control everything including marriage arrangements. Women are treated as chattel to bear children and work. Younger male members of the sect are viewed as competition by older male members for brides and are sometimes banished from the group.

"In God's Country" is a fairly good  depiction of the secretive world of polygamist cults.
